We're having fun despite the weather ☕🥃⛵ We did this sail last week using the remaining wind from the Nor'easter from the Statue of Liberty to Lewes, DE. The sun came out and the seas were calm — that's when we found ourselves naturally doing Gym, Tan, Laundry. This video felt appropriate. We didn't have dinner plans...the sea provided. We dreamed of bringing friends along for a beautiful passage through the city to anchor beside the Statue of Liberty. The Nor'easter had different plans and we didn't want to miss her wind on the way south, so here we are having the ultimate rainy day in NYC. This has to be one of the coolest anchorages of all time. We stayed tucked into Port Washington on anchor through the worst of the weather. Gusts up to 40 knots made the boat rock and roll but the anchor held strong as did the boats around us. We are eager to keep moving and get to warmer, drier weather. Stay tuned for our sail through Hell Gate along the East River past the city. Wouldn't be the north east without a Nor'easter. We sailed SV HeliCat safely to Port Washington today to join the masses of boats tucked into the harbor here. Good times. ⛵ We love our dinner table because there's always a view Dinghy a mile, nearly run out of gas, walk a mile, hit up the local coop, buy a cart & premixed gas from Ace, grab a slice of NY pizza, load more into the cart at Stop & Shop, walk a mile, plop it in, unload, then pop a high noon tequila seltzer. Happy grocery shopping ⛵ Yesterday we sailed across Long Island Sound, enjoyed this sunset, then popped champagne to celebrate. Alex took a job flying Black Hawks for wildfires in Europe next summer and I finished writing a fiction manuscript. After heading to the Caribbean for the winter, we plan to cross the Atlantic in spring and move to the Mediterranean for a little while.
